  1. Beat the Heat with a Cool Cat! Free Adoptions All July

    July 3, 2018 - July 31, 2018 @ Irving Animal Care Campus

    The Irving Animal Care Campus is filled with great pets looking for their dream homes. Animal Services is extending its Adopt-a-Cat month special, waiving adoption fees for cats one year and older; kittens are available for a $50 adoption fee. Vaccinations, spay/neuter, leukemia test and microchip included with all cat adoptions.

    All adoptions must be processed 30 minutes before closing.

Holidays

  1. Independence Day - No Trash Pickup / City Offices Closed

    July 4, 2018, All Day

    In observance of Independence Day, there will be no residential trash, curbside recycling or brush collection on July 4. In addition, the following facilities will be closed:

    • City Hall 
    • Hunter Ferrell Landfill
    • Heritage Aquatic Center and North Lake Natatorium
    • Irving Arts Center
    • Irving Public libraries
    • Recreation centers
    • Irving Animal Care Campus

    All offices and services will resume normal business hours on July 5.

      The exhibition aims to explore the idea of travel and American culture through interactive photography. Vernacular photographs taken in the 1950s and ‘60s are featured and paired with contemporary photographs Natalie Slater shot along the modern day Route 66, from the same locations and vantage points. The images are backlit and overlaid inside interactive light boxes to create a unique road trip experience, with a view towards both past and present. Exhibit located in Carpenter Lobby.     The City of Irving celebrates America’s independence each year with the downtown parade, featuring entries by community groups, individuals and businesses. It is followed by a reception at Heritage Park, offering live music, free watermelon and children's activities.

    The City of Irving celebrates America’s independence each year with an evening festival, featuring free activities and rides for children, a wide range of food vendors and live music performances. A spectacular fireworks show finishes the night, beginning at approximately 9:30 p.m.
