June is Adopt-a-Cat Month at the Irving Animal Care Campus, 4140 Valley View Lane. Adoption fees for cats 1 year and older are waived during June, and kittens are available for a $50 adoption fee. Vaccinations, spay/neuter, leukemia test and microchip included with all cat adoptions.
All adoptions must be processed 30 minutes before closing.

Want to learn skills that will help you save lives? Become a certified lifeguard.
Prerequisite: Minimum age 15. Successful skills test, which includes 300-yard continuous swim; a 10-pound brick retrieval from 7 to 10 feet depth of water followed by a 20-yard return carrying the brick; and treading water for two minutes without using hands. Test must be completed one week before class or must have instructor approval.
Successful completion of the course will result in American Red Cross Life Guard/First Aid, CPR-Professional Rescuer, and AED certifications.

In conjunction with the annual exhibition of Chinese brush paintings and Ikebana (the Japanese art of floral arrangement) a reception featuring brush painting demos will be offered from 2 to 4:30 p.m.. The Chinese Garden Party exhibition which runs June 16 through July 8 in the Main Gallery is presented by The Association of Oriental Arts (TAO Arts) in association with the Dallas and Fort Worth Chapters of Ikebana International and the Dallas Chapter of Sogetsu School.
