Animal Services

  1. Adopt-a-Shelter-Dog Month: Big Dogs Adoption Event

    October 2, 2018 - October 31, 2018 @ Adoption Kennels

    In honor of Adopt a Shelter Dog month, Irving Animal Services is offering all large dogs - 40 pounds and larger - for a discounted adoption fee of only $25 for the entire month of October. Normally, the adoption fees range from $70 to $100.

    Adopters must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid form of identification.

    Animals being adopted will be:
    • Up-to-date on vaccinations, including rabies if the animal is over four months of age.
    • Spayed or neutered or $50 voucher towards spay / neuter (depending on surgery availability).
    • Given a general dewormer and flea prevention .
    • Microchipped and registered with 24PetWatch.
    • Heartworm tested (dogs over six months of age).

  2. Affordable Spay/Neuter for Pets - Appointments Required

    October 3, 2018, 8:00 AM - 8:30 AM @ Spay/Neuter Clinic

    Schedule your appointment to have your pet spayed or neutered at an affordable cost. Pets are dropped off by 8 a.m. and picked up the same day around 4 p.m. Services provided by Texas Coalition for Animal Protection (TCAP).

  3. Affordable Vaccinations for Pets - No Appointments Needed

    October 3, 2018, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM @ Irving Animal Care Campus

    Available services include vaccinations, microchipping, heartworm testing, heartworm prevention and flea/tick control. A full set of annual vaccinations for a cat or dog is just $25! Services provided by Texas Coalition for Animal Protection (TCAP).

  2. Friends of the Irving Public Library Members-Only Book Sale

    October 3, 2018, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM @ Friends of Irving Public Library Warehouse

    The Friends warehouse is filled with thousands of gently-used donations and seldom-used items from the library's collection. The "members-only" sales are held on the first Wednesdays of the months February through May, and August through December. Membership to the Friends can be purchased at the warehouse during these sales.

  1. Young Adult Action Council (YAAC)

    If you like to read the newest books, socialize with your friends, and attend parties, or if you want to be in a group where your opinion counts, join the Young Adult Action Council (YAAC) and earn volunteer hours for school by planning upcoming teen programs, contributing to the library’s teen newsletter and website, and coming up with ideas on how to make the library more teen-friendly. Application is required to join.
