  1. Navy Cross Presentation Ceremony to IFD Lieutenant/Paramedic

    September 14, 2017, 2:00 PM - 2:30 PM @ Veterans Memorial Park

    U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Paul J. Kennedy will award Staff Sgt. Eric Smith, U.S. Marine Corps (Ret.), with the Navy Cross, the second highest military decoration that may be awarded to a member of the United States Navy or the U.S. Marine Corps.

    Lt. Smith will be honored for his for his courageous actions in 2004 while serving as a Squad Leader with Company E, Second Battalion, Fourth Marine Regiment, First Marine Division, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Lt. Smith has served with the Irving Fire Department since 2008.

    The public is welcome to this free event.
