Learn how to improve observation and drawing skills. This course explores the rich tradition of portraiture and how it shapes and preserves both identity and memory. Participants will learn about figure drawing and the human proportions of the face and body - then draw and paint portraits that capture the stories of who they are.

Note: This class is full and no waiting list names will be taken.
This 16-hour course is designed to give students an in-depth look at composting, including its benefits and challenges. Additionally, students will be introduced to vermi-composting (composting with worms), as well as Bokashi composting. Some of the other elements of this course include hands-on bin building, a tour of Irving’s Hunter Ferrell Landfill and studying the biology of composting under the microscope at North Lake College. All graduates of the course will receive training books, a backyard composting bin, worm bin, T-shirts and a certificate. Students are expected to provide 40 hours of volunteer time back to the community over a 12-month period to help further environmental education.
