Stop by the Irving Animal Care Campus (IACC), 4140 Valley View Lane, and take advantage of the Big Dogs, Big Deals event. All dogs 40 pounds and larger are available for an adoption fee of only $20. Talk with shelter staff to find the right dog that suits your family’s lifestyle, and remember that older dogs make excellent pets, too.

Irving Animal Services is hosting a free rabies vaccination and microchipping event for residents with dogs and/or cats from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Irving Animal Care Campus, 4140 Valley View Lane. Proof of residency required. Services are provided by the Texas Coalition for Animal Protection (TCAP).

Beginning Oct. 7, the Irving Arts Farmers Market will feature "The Community Garden." Irving residents are invited to sell their homegrown fruits and vegetables at the farmers market free of charge. Four Seasons Markets will supply a canopy and table space (2 feet by 6 feet) to the first three home gardeners to arrive; more gardeners can take advantage of the offer if space allows.
The markets are designed to replicate the European-style markets, where individuals can meet local farmers, artisanal food producers and crafts people, and purchase products in a colorful, family-friendly venue. Local foods and music also are planned to provide attendees an opportunity to dine while enjoying the market.

The shops offer furniture, home decor, antiques, jewelry and accessories, crafts, books, clothing, repurposed/upcycled creations and collectibles.

Instructor Dianne Tucker, founder of the Dallas Drama Company, guides students in developing original stories using illustrations and limited text. Sessions focus on storytelling fundamentals including plot, character, conflict and figurative language. Students experiment with basic comic book formats and fantasy elements, using classic comics and graphic novels as examples to create works.

This year’s activities are sponsored by the Friends of Irving Public Library, the Irving Independent School District, the Irving Arts Center and the City of Irving Parks and Recreation.
