Exhibition Gallery Talk: Grant Wood and the American Heartland

Sunday, April 22, 2018

Teri Van Dorston leads an Exhibition Gallery Talk on Grant Wood's current exhibition at the Arts Center.

Organized and presented by the Irving Arts Center in conjunction with Celebrating Irving 2018, this exhibition features prints and works on paper by American painter, Grant Wood and his fellow Regionalists, including Thomas Hart Benton, John Bloom and John Steuart Curry. The exhibition features the 19 lithographs Wood created during the Great Depression that were printed and distributed by Associated American Artists, as well as two scale drawings of soldiers portrayed in the 24’ x 20’ stained glass Memorial Window he designed for the Veterans Memorial Building in Cedar Rapids, Iowa (1928-29).
