Farmers Markets

Irving Offers Farmers Market at Arts Center

Operated by Four Seasons European Market, the market is designed to replicate the European-style markets, where individuals can meet local farmers, artisanal food producers and crafts people, and purchase products in a colorful, family-friendly venue.

Local foods and music also are planned to provide attendees an opportunity to dine while enjoying the market. For more information, call (972) 884-0680 or visit

Buy Locally Grown Foods to Help Environment
The average dinner travels approximately 1,500 miles. A food mile is the distance food travels from where it’s grown or raised to where it’s ultimately purchased by the consumer or end-user. By eating locally grown foods, it reduces the total carbon footprint of what it takes to get the food on the table.
Shopping at a Farmer's Market

Here are some ideas to reduce your impact on the environment and support local businesses and farms at the same time:

  • Buy local from Texas Farmers: Often we just want to pick our own fruits and vegetables. There are many farms around the state of Texas that provide an opportunity for individuals and families to pick fresh produce. View a list of Pick-Your-Own Farms Across Texas.
  • Individuals and families may want to go a step further and subscribe to a regular distribute of fruits and vegetables from a local Community-Supported Agriculture (CSA) farm. Here are the basics: A farmer offers a certain number of "shares" to the public. Typically the share consists of a box of vegetables, but other farm products may be included. Interested consumers purchase a share (aka a "membership" or a "subscription") and in return receive a box (bag, basket) of seasonal produce each week throughout the farming season. See a list of CSAs in Texas.
  • GO TEXAN Initiative: GO TEXAN promotes the products, culture, and communities that call Texas home. Texas grows more than 45 commercial fruit and vegetable crops in addition to a large variety of regional specialties. For more information about buying local, visit the Go TEXAN website.
