Financial status should not determine a student’s success in the classroom. To help ensure Irving students have every chance at success, the City of Irving, Irving Fire Department, Irving Schools Foundation and several other organizations team up each summer for the annual Supplies for Success Drive, which typically runs from early July to early August.
For more than a decade, the drive has collected and distributed school supplies to Irving Independent School District (IISD) students from low-income families.
Thousands of students benefit from the event each year, and thanks to partnerships with local companies, when students pick up supplies they also can take advantage of free immunizations and haircuts. In addition to preparing students for the new school year, organizers want to send them into the classroom looking and feeling their best.
Backpacks are the most requested item, but students need an array of supplies - from folders and notebooks to colored pencils. A current list school supplies is available below and can be downloaded as a PDF. Donations can be dropped off at any Irving fire station during the summer drive.
